Every county has a Tax Assessors office. The Assessors office has field appraisers that go out and give value to all the homes in the county and then taxes are assessed based on those appraised values.

I believe the Tax Assessors office has a fiduciary responsibility to ALL home owners to ensure that values are not inflated beyond normal inflation rates. When a property records a sale on a PT61 with a value that far exceeded that of the field appraisers value, the tax assessors office should have immediately flagged that property for mortgage fraud and reported it to Banking and Finance. Instead, they looked at it as a pay increase for themselves and they allowed these inflated prices to continue until now we have a mortgage crisis. Tax assessed values should not exceed the appraised values in our current market. All home owners should storm the Assessors office and write their Congressman and demand a refund of inflated taxes. We need to hold this government office accountable to all property tax payers. Afterall, it IS their job!
